Holding On The Line

I want to thank You for my problems,
And I thank You for my pain,
For now I know without them, Lord,
I'd never really know Your name.

When Life is easy we relax,
And though there's time to sit,
We can't "work" You in our schedule,
You just don't seem to fit.

But after problems come, then level out,
We start asking and reflecting,
We haven't spoken to you much
And might be guilty of rejecting.

That's because we don't need your help
When things are working out just find,
Then we think You just might be
still holding on the "line."

That's what I did, I called You up,
But strayed on the line with You,
I kept praying and discovering
The many things You love to do.

You love to answer prayers,
You love for us to learn
About You, how You operate;
You love for us to show concern.

I'm enjoying life so much more,
Except the brokeness that's done,
But I've learned it's necessary
For my victory to be won

So now I won't just call on You
When I feel I'm in trouble,
I'll thank you when blessings come
In single file or in double.

Because You're in my problems,
And of course, You're in my blessings;
You're in everything, oh Lord,
In every way, Your love expressing.

Are You A Backslider?

God is the key to all of our needs.
And when the world plants inappropriate seeds
God's always ready to hear and listen
To every sincere and backsliding Christian.

If you've been born again,
Renew your lost hope,
Christ already washed you
With the purest red soap.

And He disinfected
Every one of your sins,
So repent and confess them
And begin once again.

Just start where you are,
Thank him for forgiving
The wrong turn you made,
Then continue with living.

The Spirit inside you
Will handle the rest.
The Lord God who saved you
Still wants only your best.

Children of God can fall
While floating inside the Arc,
But we never fall out,
And never can disembark.

So please rest assured
Your heavenly Father loves you,
And awaits your return
From the world's mixed up zoo.

Increase My Faith and Trust

O Lord, increase my love for You,
Increase my faith and trust,
So I will keep my mind on You,
And my whole being can adjust.

Instill in me an attitude
Where wrong can be made right.
Give me the courage that I need
To face the challenged fight.

Grant me overwhelming peace
That's hard to understand,
As I pass through my earthly years,
Offer me Your gentle hand.

Show me Your Promise that is mine
Found within these Bible pages,
The Book we love to call Your Word
That's lasted through the ages.

Teach me, Father, teach me now,
Don't hold one lesson back,
I have desire, the need to know,
And I must keep my mind intact.
