Holding On The Line

I want to thank You for my problems,
And I thank You for my pain,
For now I know without them, Lord,
I'd never really know Your name.

When Life is easy we relax,
And though there's time to sit,
We can't "work" You in our schedule,
You just don't seem to fit.

But after problems come, then level out,
We start asking and reflecting,
We haven't spoken to you much
And might be guilty of rejecting.

That's because we don't need your help
When things are working out just find,
Then we think You just might be
still holding on the "line."

That's what I did, I called You up,
But strayed on the line with You,
I kept praying and discovering
The many things You love to do.

You love to answer prayers,
You love for us to learn
About You, how You operate;
You love for us to show concern.

I'm enjoying life so much more,
Except the brokeness that's done,
But I've learned it's necessary
For my victory to be won

So now I won't just call on You
When I feel I'm in trouble,
I'll thank you when blessings come
In single file or in double.

Because You're in my problems,
And of course, You're in my blessings;
You're in everything, oh Lord,
In every way, Your love expressing.

Your Connection To Christ

I have heard that there are many
Who believe that Christ, the Lord
Will surely save them anyway
If they can just afford
To live the way they want to live:
To lie and cheat and hoard,
And in the end God will say,
"That's OK, come on aboard".

My friends, it doesn't work that way,
If you repented then you'd know
It isn't what you do that makes
The Savior love you so.
It's your genuine commitment to Christ
That brings salvation to your soul.

But if you're not sure that you'll go
To heaven when you die —
If you think who waits for you
Is that devilish prince of lies.
Then ask the Lord to educate you
In all His knowledge you can't buy.
This is all that he is waiting for
To literally open up the sky.

Increase My Faith and Trust

O Lord, increase my love for You,
Increase my faith and trust
So I will keep my mind on You,
And my whole being can adjust.

Instill in me an attitude
Where wrong can be made right.
Give me the courage that I need
To face the challenged fight.

Grant me overwhelming peace
That's hard to understand,
As I pass through my earthly years,
Offer me Your gentle hand.

Show me Your Promise that is mine
Found within these Bible pages,
The Book we love to call Your Word
That's lasted through the ages.

Teach me, Father, teach me now,
Don't hold one lesson back,
I have desire, the need to know,
And I must keep my mind intact.
